Self Healing Mechanism
Our belief system is simple – the body has this amazing ability to fix and repair itself. So why would we try and fix a self-healing mechanism? Makes no sense to me – what we could do is try and identify where the capacity to self-heal was compromised, clear the restriction and once again restore the capacity for the body to be able to fix and repair itself. How do we do that? Accurate assessment at THE VERY BEGINNING of that first session.
Accurate Assessment
When a new client walks in the door, as New Vision Therapists we have a few minutes to try and make an accurate EVIDENCE BASED ASSESSMENT of what we believe the ROOT CAUSE of the problem may be, and start work. Over the years, we have refined our work to address issues DIRECTLY HAVING A NEGATIVE INFLUENCE ON THE BALANCED FUNCTION OF THE CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM. If we can identify and resolve these issues, we will hopefully restore the capacity for self-healing.
Bones and Elastic Bands
Think of the body from a structural point of view as nothing more complex than a bag of bones held together by elastic bands. Nerves control muscles, which in turn dictate structure. I have found that by balancing nerve signals, muscles relax and structure will self-correct. It really is that simple! The nervous system is the fuse box controlling and co-ordinating those electrical signals. There’s more!
The Master Computer
The brain and spinal cord are housed inside a fluid filled protective membrane. Any pressure applied to this membrane through old injuries, scar tissue from surgeries, poor structure, tight skull plates, or musculoskeletal compensatory patterns will induce a protective “fight or flight” response.
Our job is to identify these areas, address them with various techniques from our therapeutic “toolbox” and help the body to drop out of that compromised state. This restores the capacity for normal digestion, breathing, immune system building and cardiac function.
Magical Connectivity of Fascia
Fascia is a very thin layer of connective tissue that attaches, stabilizes, encloses and separates muscles and other internal organs. Like a spider’s web, it permeates the whole body. Touch a spiders web and you send a ripple throughout. Touch the web and rotate your finger, you distort the whole web. This is one of our most powerful diagnostic tools, allowing us to accurately identify areas of the body that are compromised that may never show on scans or x rays.
Once identified, we can release these compromised areas using very gentle, safe, non-manipulative techniques through a fully clothed body. People are often taken aback at how such a non-invasive approach can have such profound impacts on the whole body!
In a nutshell, if we do the simple things, the body can then go on and do all the hard work! It takes time to develop a sensitivity of touch to enable you to accurately identify these compromised areas, but the results we get, and the testimonials we receive are well worth it.
This is why I developed our core curriculum of training to share these concepts with everyone – not just Health professionals. This approach is complementary – designed to work alongside conventional medical wisdom, not to try and replace it! Working together, we could help so many more people, and that remains the long term goal of New Vision Therapy. An integrated approach to Healthcare with the best of both worlds.
