Chris was a mechanical engineer for over 20 years, managing a successful local business. He did however have a longstanding shoulder problem for which there was no clear, clinical diagnosis despite exploring many avenues with conventional medicine. In the end, the only option being offered to him medically was injections to ease the pain, which he chose not to take as he was aware that this was only going to deal with the symptom, the pain, and would not solve the underlying problem as to why the pain was there. Having seen a relative make a slow, but progressive recovery from chronic fatigue, when again medically there was no clear pathological diagnosis on why she felt so depleted, he decided to visit the therapist who had treated her. This was a last resort for him, as indeed it often is for many people that now visit him.
The cause of his shoulder pain, old broken ribs from a martial arts tournament many years previous, was successfully diagnosed and treated, and 90% of his pain disappeared overnight. he had muscle growth back in 10 days, and resumed training for the first time in many years within a fortnight – to say the experience changed his life was an understatement.
As an engineer, he was intrigued as to how the therapist had discovered the cause of his problem with just his hands, when all the tools available to modern medicine had been unable to do so. As such he began a journey to understand and learn these methods, so that he would one day hopefully be able to help people like himself who had been effectively written off because their pain was medically undiagnosable.
He initially qualified in body massage, before moving on to study acupressure – both clinical and process – craniosacral therapy, reflexology, auricular therapy, skeletal rebalancing and animal therapies.
In August 2011 the calling had become so strong to set up New Vision Therapy that he relocated to the Lido Medical Centre in order to work closer with the Medical community. An opportunity arose in late 2012 to purchase our own dedicated centre where we are now based in St Clement. Our studies are always progressive and ongoing, with the aim of adding new tools to the box of treatments available that may further enhance New Vision Therapy, and offer a more complete treatment for the client.
As an ex engineer, Chris understands the importance of having a clear, clinical understanding of what it is that he is working with – if not, how can he hope to make a clear accurate diagnosis of the imbalance?
It is the aim of New Vision Therapists to fully understand, and be able to communicate to the client, how we assess and treat them in a safe, non invasive manner. Delighted to now share this knowledge through our core curriculum of one day intensive Workshops.
